In the United States, a woman demonstrated incredible skill by safely landing a plane after her husband, the pilot, suffered a heart attack mid-flight.
According to a report by the New York Post, 69-year-old Yuen Canin Wells, a real estate agent from Las Vegas, had no prior experience flying a plane. Recently, during a flight, her 78-year-old husband, Elliott Alper, had a heart attack, leaving her to safely land the plane on her own.
The couple was flying in a twin-engine Beechcraft King Air 90, departing from Henderson Executive Airport in Las Vegas, en route to Monterey, California.
After Elliott Alper suffered the heart attack mid-flight, Yuen Canin Wells immediately contacted air traffic control and took over the plane’s controls.
Following the instructions from air traffic control, she diverted the plane to a nearby airport and successfully landed it within minutes.
Rescue personnel arrived at the airport immediately after the landing, but unfortunately, Elliott Alper could not survive.
